New Protocols for MOHW Buildings

May 4, 2020

The Executive Management extends its appreciation to all members of staff for your continued dedication at this time. Twenty (20) of our staff members have tested positive for COVID-19 and we extend best wishes for a speedy recovery. Many will have only mild symptoms or no symptoms but there is great deal of anxiety and fear related to this new illness and we know it is not an easy time for the affected persons and their families and colleagues.

In order to prevent any further spread several measures have been put in place. This includes testing and a 14 day quarantine period that most persons would have been subjected to.

The case investigations and contact tracing of all positive individuals are being conducted by the Kingston & St. Andrew Health Department (KSAHD). The KSAHD will advise if further actions are required emanating out of the case investigations.

In the meantime as we prepare to return to work in a safe manner the following are be observed in all MOHW buildings:

  • Temperature and Symptom Log at all entrances
  • Hand sanitizers accessible by all work stations
  • Physical distancing
  • Wearing of masks by all staff members in the MOHW buildings.
  • Posters for infection control measures will be visibly mounted
  • No gathering of persons in the restrooms, pantries or other common areas.
  • A monitor will be assigned on each floor or each department to ensure that rules are being adhered to.

In an ambit to increase physical distancing and decrease time in office, scheduling of staff members and work- at-home protocols for technical officers will be implemented and managed through HRMA.
