Congratulations to Kamol Williams (third from left) from the System Information Technology Unit, the artistic genius behind the new Ministry of Health and Wellness logo.
His creative concept behind the logo is outlined below:
Colours Selected: The colors selected were inspired by our national flag, namely black, green & gold, in addition the red line represents the bloodline, which flows through the hearts of the people (ideally one bloodline to represent our motto "out of many one people").
Different aspects within the logo:
The individual wrapping around "Ministry of Health & Wellness": This symbolizes the people of Jamaica in an upbeat look, being happy and in good health flowing around the Ministry. In essence, this would represent the "HEALTH" in Ministry of Health and Wellness. The colour gold was chosen as it is also associated with illumination, love, courage, passion, wisdom, wealth and most importantly prosperity.
The Green Heart: The color green represents the color of life, renewal, nature, and energy; it is also associated with meanings of growth, harmony, freshness, safety, fertility, and environment. There could not have been a better choice in the colour of this heart considering that it represents the latter aspect to our name "WELLNESS". Take into consideration the size as well, it shows that we as a nation are a culmination of individuals with a big heart and I saw this fitting as a representation of what we are trying to bring across and achieve.
The Red Heartbeat Line: In the medical world, this line represents the heart's electrical activity, now from this I took note of two things I wanted to bring across:
1. The translation from how we have a direct impact on the hearts/health of everyone in Jamaica, making us the beating heart of Jamaica.
2. That we are still alive, well and continuing to grow, expand and evolve.
