World Blood Donor Day: “Give Blood and Keep the World Beating”.

The National Blood Transfusion Service will join the y the World Health Organization (WHO) to lead the Caribbean region in celebrating World Blood Donor Day on Monday June 14, 2021.
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Give blood and keep the world beating”. This reinforces the global call for more people across the world to donate blood regularly and contribute to better health. The Ministry aims to raise awareness to the need for safe blood and blood products for blood transfusion, and of the critical contribution donors make to national health systems.

Blood Donor Social Media Blitz
All Blood Collection Sites, 9:00 a.m. -3:00 p.m.
Individuals being asked to visit the various blood collection facilities island-wide to donate and post pictures on social media using #givebloodandkeeptheworldbeating
#givebloodja2021#partnershipforlife. The persons who garner the most likes will be awarded gift baskets from Malta Jamaica.
Wear Red on Monday, June 14
Members of staff are also being asked to dress in red to show their support. Pictures with staff members will be posted on the Ministries social media page.
Blood Donors Awards Photo Opportunity
Three young people who have been champions of the service over the last year by raising awareness, organizing Blood Drives will be awarded during a photo opportunity at the National Blood Transfusion Services offices.
