No New Confirmed Cases; 19 more Recoveries

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Tuesday, June 16, 2020: Jamaica recorded no new COVID-19 cases today. The total number of confirmed cases for the island remains at 621.

At the same time, 19 more patients have recovered and have been released from care, bringing the total number of recoveries to 449. The island’s recovery rate is now 72.3%.

There are 120 imported cases with 219 cases that are contacts of confirmed cases; 39 local transmission cases not epidemiologically linked; 236 cases related to a workplace cluster, and 7 cases under investigation.

 

Of the 621 total confirmed cases, 358 (57.7%) are females and 263 (42.3%) are males. They range in age from 2 months to 87 years.

Two critically ill patients are among the 162 (26.1%) active cases under observation. There are no moderately ill patients at this time.

The island’s parish health departments are currently following some 763 close contacts of confirmed cases, while 181 patients remain in isolation; six persons-of-interest are in government quarantine and 1,195 in home quarantine.
