July dubbed ‘Healthcare Workers Appreciation Month’

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Wednesday, May 4, 2022:  Jamaica’s healthcare workers will in the month of July be recognised for the sterling service in the fight against COVID-19. Minister of Health and Wellness, Dr. the Hon. Christopher Tufton made the pronouncement while delivering his Sectoral presentation in Parliament on Tuesday.

“I am pleased to announce that the month of July will be recognised as Healthcare Workers Appreciation Month. Healthcare workers from across the island will be recognised through a series of events and activities at the parish, regional and national levels,” Dr. Tufton noted.

The events and activities will include church services, family fun days and awards banquets.

“Wednesday, July 13 will be declared Healthcare Workers Appreciation Day, and we invite all stakeholders to join us in celebrating our health heroes,” highlighted the Minister.

The observation will also feature the unveiling of a monument in honour of healthcare workers who have died as a result of COVID-19.
