Jamaicans 18 years and over eligible for vaccination • Week-long islandwide blitz targeting 150,000 first-dosers

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Friday, July 30, 2021: The Ministry of Health and Wellness will intensify its national vaccination efforts over the next eight days as it anticipates the arrival of 300, 000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine manufactured by Astrazeneca. The vaccines are scheduled to arrive in-country on Friday, July 30. The week-long vaccination focus, from Saturday, July 31 to Thursday, August 5 is opened to all Jamaicans 18 years and older, with the target of inoculating some 150,000 with the first dose of the vaccine. 

Starting Friday July 30 at 10AM, appointments for first doses may be made using the registration portal by visiting the Ministry of Health and Wellness’ website at www.moh.gov.jm, or by calling the National Vaccination Hotline at 1-888-ONE-LOVE (663-5683). Persons should take their TRN and a government issued identification/letter from a Justice of the Peace to the vaccination site to receive their first dose.     

Jamaicans are being reminded to adhere to the provisions under the Disaster Risk Management Act, with increased vigilance to the infection prevention and control measures – washing hands frequently or using hand sanitizer, keeping a physical distance of six feet from others; wearing masks and avoiding crowded situations.
