Jamaica records Eight More Imported Cases

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Thursday, July 2, 2020: Eight new samples have tested positive for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The island now has 715 confirmed COVID-19 cases. In the meantime, five more patients have recovered and have been released from care, bringing the cumulative recoveries to 560. (78.3% Recovery rate).
The new cases are all imported and consist of six Jamaicans, with addresses of residence in St. Ann (1), Kingston & St. Andrew, (4) and St. Catherine (1). The other two are non-Jamaicans staying in St. Ann. Four are males and four are females with ages ranging from 21 to 60 years.
Jamaica currently has 136 (19%) active cases under observation, with one moderately ill patient. There are no critically ill patients, while nine cases have been repatriated to their country of origin.
There are now 200 imported cases; 233 cases are contacts of confirmed cases; 39 are local transmission cases not epidemiologically-linked; 236 related to the workplace cluster in St. Catherine and 7 under investigation.
Some 405 (57%) of all confirmed cases are females and 310 (43%) males. The ages of all confirmed cases range from 2 months to 87 years.
