Jamaica records 14 new COVID-19 cases

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Friday, June 19, 2020: Jamaica has recorded 14 new COVID19 cases in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 652. The new cases are comprised of 10 females and four (4) males, with ages ranging from 20 to 72 years.
Six of the cases are non-residents – five with accommodations in St. James and one in Westmoreland. The other eight are of addresses in St. Ann (2), Kingston and St. Andrew (2), Manchester (1), Clarendon (1), St. Catherine (1), and St. Mary (1) – with investigations ongoing to confirm that they are residents. All 14 cases are imported, arriving on flights from the United States.
They bring to 148 the total number of imported cases. In addition, 222 cases are contacts of confirmed cases; 39 are local transmission cases not epidemiologically linked, 236 are related to the workplace cluster in St. Catherine, and 7 are under investigation.
Some 379 or 58% of the confirmed cases are females and 273 or 42% are males. They range in age from 2 months to 87 years. Of the 652 cases confirmed with COVID-19 to date, 458 or 70.2% have recovered.
There is one (1) critically ill case and one (1) moderately ill case. There are 184 (28.2 %) active cases currently under observation.
Testing numbers are now up to 19,617, with 996 new samples tested in the last day. Of the 19,617 samples tested, in addition to the 652 positives, there are 18,904 negatives and 61 are pending.
