#DoYourShare goes to Cumberland High Health Ministry does Wellness Check-In with students, teachers

April 14, 2025

KINGSTON, Jamaica. Friday, April 11, 2025: The Ministry of Health and Wellness took the Do Your Share mental wellness campaign to Cumberland High School in Portmore, St. Catherine this morning.

The visit, which took the form of a Wellness Check-In at the institution, saw the donation of a Wellness Bench, which has been placed in the school’s budding Wellness Garden; and also exposed students to a variety of wellness tips during their devotion and at a small group session that followed.

Students were encouraged, too, to talk about how they feel with persons with whom they feel safe and to access the available mental health helplines, as needed. Those lines include 888-SAFE-SPOT (888-723-3776) and 888-NEW-LIFE (888-639-5433). There is also the U-Matter Chatline for 16-24-year-olds that is accessible by texting the word ‘SUPPORT’ to 876-838-4897, and via Instagram and Facebook Messenger @ureportjamaica.

For more mental health resources, students and other members of the public can also or visit the Ministry’s website at www.moh.gov.jm.

#DoYourShare prioritises the creation of safe spaces for young people who may be struggling with mental health challenges; and makes available information, education and communication resources on mental wellness. It also includes the donation of a ‘Wellness Bench’ as a symbol for safe spaces and as a tool to promote communication about mental wellness.

Also available to students is a Wellness Toolkit, comprised of four videos that look at the various dimensions of health, and which is accessible via the Ministry’s YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/c/ministryofhealthwellnessjamaica.
